A Decade of the Maratani Chain of Giving

Last November the “Maratani” marked a decade with an evening for teachers and graduates of the program

The Maratani-Chain of Giving in memory of Tani Goodman running since 2002 is Ginot Ha’ir’s oldest community project.

The project, that received the mayor’s price for volunteering 2005, operates free tutoring sessions in English, Maths and Lashon. The lessons are given but volunteer teachers. In return students who benefit from the tutoring  volunteer in the community in a variety of frameworks including youth groups run by Ginot Ha’ir.

Last November Ginot Ha’ir Community Council marked a decade of the Maratani with an evening that was also a reunion for the teachers and students who have taken part in the project over the years. The evening was attended by Tani’s friends, members of Scout’s Shevet Masuot that Tani belonged to, and many other friends and guests. The Ein Prat Fountainheads preformed and Mica Goodman, Tani’s brother, addressed the audience. The evening ended in a sing along show held by “HaCova HaHafuch” with proceeds going to Keren Tani. The evening was our opportunity to say Thank You!  to all the volunteer teachers who over the years have assisted and invested time and patience in each and every student who came to the Maratani.

The event was accompanied with a special program that showed the story of the Maratani, and its development over the years. Included were the sorties from students for whom the Maratani provided meaningful assistance and allowed the discovery of the joy of giving to the community – perpetuating the chain of giving.

Students in classes Yud – Yud Bet are invited to join the chain of giving!

Lessons are held every week
Sundays: English 18:00-20:00
Thursdays: Mathematics and Lashon 18:00-20:00

Teachers interested in volunteering are gratefully welcomed!
