Hebrew Literature Rotem Atar
Conversational Hebrew Cecilia Aranovich
The purpose of the course is practicing Hebrew while expanding vocabulary and improving conversational skills. The participants will be encouraged to talk freely about all aspects of life. Levels will be determind after an intervew with Cecilia.
Cecilia Aranovich, A qualified language teacher with 25 years of experience in teaching languages: English, Spanish, Hebrew and Arabic. Cecilia has taught especially adults in various academies and language schools throughout Jerusalem. Ceclilia holds a B.A. in philosophy and linguistics from the Hebrew University
Found in Transition: Translating Israeli literature. Rotem Atar
The course will focus on translating easy texts from Israeli literature – from English into Hebrew. We will meet new writers and their words and familiarize ourselves with the Hebrew language and with Israeli culture.

Reading Yona v'naar (A Pigeon and A Boy) by Meir Shalev.
"A Pigeon and a Boy" tells a unique love story that takes place during the 1948 War of Independence. We will read the entire book, little by little, throughout the year, and learn not only about the special language of the author but also about the culture and the history that is reveled in this marvelous book.
Rotem Atar, Has a B.A in General and Comparative Literature and an M.A. in Translation studies. Translates from French and English, works as a translator for some of Israel's leading publishers.
Painting & Drawing Jeffrey Allon
(class is charged as 2 classes)
The course is based on acquiring a basic foundation in drawing and painting. The student will gain proficiency in understanding perspective, the use of line, shape, volume, light and shadow. We will work from still life, models, and landscape using pencil, charcoal, and oil paints. The second half of the course will place great importance on explaining color theory and how to paint in oils.
This class will be bilingual, and will be held in English and Hebrew
Jeffrey Allon has extensive experience teaching drawing and painting. In addition to his figurative paintings and drawings, he has illustrated children's books, and designed Judaica.
67 Years of State Micha Fill
The course deals with the history of Israel from its establishment to the present. We will focus on the most important events in the history of the country, the connection between them, and in the broader context of the period of time. We will focus on the important personalities who have made their mark on the history of the country. Looking back on 67 years of existence, we can learn about the greatest miracle of the twentieth century, the State of Israel.
Milestones in Israel Micha Fill
Through out the course we will go on a journey along "milestones" - selected sites in the land of Israel. The journey through the various sites and landscapes of the country will grant us deeper understanding of the uniqueness of the land of Israel and introduce us to the Jewish nation's great past. we will discover the changes and developments of the geography, cultural, and heritages of our country. Following topics such as: The Arab-Israeli conflict, religious diversity, and pluralism within Judaism..., and many others that are shaping the landscape in Israel.

We will read together a varied selection of Hebrew/ Israeli literary works & poems, and discuss them in simple Hebrew. We will examine chapters from novels, short stories, Jewish philosophy, poetic prose, poems etc. and get to know classic as well as contemporary works.
Israeli Satire 1948-2015 Batsheva Dori-Carlier
Satire is an artistic and literary style used for delivering a mocking criticism of the social/ political reality using humor and exaggeration. We will read, hear & watch Israeli satirical works. We will laugh & discuss about them in simple Hebrew: Ephraim Kishon, "לול" (chicken coop), Hanoch Levin, "ארץ נהדרת" (eretz nehederet) etc...
The Art of Listening
Each lesson opens with a theory related to listening.
For example: What is listening with free attention, "listening with attention and without criticism".
Each lesson gives an exercise in pairs or threes related to the theory and implementation tools.
We end each lesson by sharing our experience in a circle.
The course will bring issues related to life, such as family relationships: parent and child, warm relationships outside the family and topics that will come from class members.
There will also be special topics, such as "the magic evaluation" and more. Sometimes I will use music, poetry, excerpts of articles relay to the topic.
